BUILD

A website that keeps up with where you’re taking the business

Built to be found and easy for your customers to use. Designed to bring in more enquiries and convert more of the people who land on it.

  • Who it’s for

Most of the people I work with have been through this before: a site that looked fine in a meeting and did nothing afterwards, or a build that got handed to someone junior halfway through and never quite recovered. If that sounds familiar, this is likely a good fit, particularly if:

  • You’re building or growing a business and need a site that can keep pace with that, not a static brochure.

  • You want one person handling the whole job, not a team relaying messages between departments.

  • You want direct access to the person building your site, before and after launch.

  • Who it isn’t for

A few things I’d rather say up front. This probably isn’t the right fit if:

  • You need a large-scale build with its own project management layer and multiple people working in parallel.

  • You’re comparing a pile of quotes and will simply go with the cheapest. I’m happy to be compared on what you get, but I’m unlikely to win on price alone.

  • You’re happy building it yourself with a template tool or AI. That’s a fair route for some businesses, but it isn’t what I do.

The range of businesses I design and build websites for

  • Security and industrial services: sites that need to read as established and technically credible, not flashy

  • Professional training and coaching: course and booking-led sites where the enquiry path has to be obvious

  • Hospitality: sites doing double duty on brand feel and practical jobs like bookings or vouchers

  • Trades and home services: sites built around getting a quote request in, not just looking presentable

  • Technical and engineering services: sites that need to explain something genuinely complex, clearly

  • Professional and financial services: sites that need to build trust before a call even happens

The list keeps growing. Get in touch even if your sector isn’t on it yet.

What’s included.

Everything below describes a full build. The starter site is a lighter version of the same thing, with its scope set out under what it costs.

Design

Every page is designed around the primary actions you want visitors to take. Nothing goes in without reason; they’re included to move someone toward these actions.

  • Structure built around the actions you want visitors to take

  • Easy to adjust once it’s live, without needing a developer for every change

  • On-brand from the first draft

Build

A slow or fragile site loses you enquiries before anyone’s read a word of it. I build so the site holds up under real traffic, not just in a demo.

  • Configured cleanly and kept lean

  • Tested across devices and browsers before sign-off

  • Fast by default: pages that load before someone gives up and leaves

Content structure

Where everything sits on the site dictates whether a visitor finds their way to an enquiry or gives up halfway through. I map that route before a word gets written.

  • Pages structured around what your customers actually search for

  • A clear path from any page to an enquiry or a sale

  • Ready for your own content, or written as a separate job

SEO-ready foundations

A full SEO campaign is separate work, but a site that starts from zero on search wastes the first few months after launch. Yours won’t.

  • Clean code and fast page speed

  • Sitemaps, structured data and headings set up correctly

  • A base your future SEO work builds on, not fights against

Handover

A website that only I can update isn’t actually yours. You get full access and what you need to run it day to day.

  • Full admin access, no exceptions

  • A written guide covering the basics

  • Direct access to me afterwards

After launch

Most people don’t want to think about their site once it’s live. If you’d like someone to keep an eye on it, hosting and care is a separate plan that picks up from here.

  • Managed hosting, backups, security and updates from £250 a year

  • Separate from the build price, and entirely optional

Process.

“Steven was the driving force behind getting our website over the line. We were very vague on what we wanted as an end result, as we weren’t sure ourselves. However, Steven nailed it with the limited information he had to work on. We are extremely impressed and happy with the final draft.”

– Mike Empson, C-Tech Solutions Ltd

What it costs.

Most of my web work is quoted after a conversation, because no two sites need quite the same thing. These two figures give you somewhere to start.

Starter website

just £900

For a new business, startup or a first proper website. Three to five pages built from my own starter layouts, built to perform well on phones, with a contact form and the basic search setup done properly: page titles, descriptions, a sitemap and analytics.

You supply the words and images, or choose from my stock library. One round of reasonable feedback can be incorporated before launch, and I’ll show you how to edit the site yourself.

Larger websites

from £1,800

For anything beyond five pages, or a site with a blog, bookings, connections to other plugins and software, or a design made around your brand rather than built from my starter layouts. You get everything described under what’s included, with the scope shaped around what you need the site to do.

You get a fixed quote after we’ve talked it through, and nothing starts until you’ve agreed it. If the scope changes along the way, we agree it before I do the work.

  • Hosting with me is optional, from £250 a year.

  • Turnaround times vary based on project size and capacity – but are clearly defined up front

What I build with.

WordPress is where most projects land, and there’s a reason for that: it’s open rather than proprietary, so nothing you build stays locked to one company’s platform. You can move it, extend it, or hand it to someone else entirely, years down the line, without starting again from nothing.

It’s a starting point, not a rule. If WordPress isn’t the right tool for what you’re trying to achieve, I’ll say so, and build in whatever gets you there instead.

I also move existing sites onto WordPress, from Wix, Squarespace or Webflow, and from AI-generated drafts or Figma wireframes that were never meant to be a finished site in the first place.

Frequently asked questions.

These are the questions people ask me most before getting in touch, answered as plainly as I can. If yours isn’t here, send it over and I’ll reply directly.

A starter site is £900 and larger sites start from £1,800. Online shops start from £3,600, which I cover on the e-commerce page.

For anything beyond the starter, I’ll give you a fixed quote once we’ve talked it through, and if the scope changes along the way we agree it before I do the work.

There are a lot of variables involved. Without avoiding the question, it really does depend; on the site requirements, on how quickly content and feedback come back, and on my current capacity – so I don’t publish a standard timeframe.

Once your content is in (or agreed, if I’m producing it), we’ll agree a launch date, and I’ll say so up front if the date you’re hoping for isn’t realistic.

If content or feedback arrives late, the date moves with it.

Then it’s a larger site, and I’ll quote it separately. That means anything beyond five pages, custom design, a blog, an online shop, bookings, or connections to other software.

After our first conversation I’ll tell you honestly which side of the line you’re on, rather than squeezing a bigger job into a package it doesn’t fit.

A deposit is required to book the work in and the final balance is due before the site goes live. For starter sites, the typical split is 50% up front, 50% before launch.

On larger builds I’m happy to agree a different split, such as three or four payments, and it goes in your quote.

If you take my hosting, it’s billed annually in advance, or monthly if you’d prefer.

Website content writing is a separate paid service, and I’ll quote it alongside the build if you want it. We do utilise AI assistants to help plan, research and organise website content projects, but the final words will be produced by a human. Content authenticity, effort and uniqueness is strongly recommended to give your new website the best chance of resonating favourably with search engines, LLMs and your audience.

If you already have copy and images, send them over and I’ll build around them.

On a starter site you supply the words and images, or choose from my stock library.

You review the site on a password-protected staging environment first, and nothing goes live until you’ve signed it off.

It then launches on my hosting or gets packaged up for your existing host.

One round of changes is included in the build. Anything beyond that is billed hourly in half-hour units, so you only pay for the time it takes. Nailing down requirements and specifications early ensures a smooth handover with minimal revisions. My primary goal is to deliver a solution that completely aligns with your vision.

Yes. Your domain is registered in your name, and you get full admin access. Any WordPress theme licence is included in the build price and I’ll transfer it to you upon request.

Any premium plugins we need to ensure the required functionality are usually bought by you directly, with my guidance.

No. I can launch it on your existing host, or on mine if you’d like me to look after it. My hosting is optional and starts at £250 a year.

If you already have a WordPress site elsewhere and want it moved onto my hosting, I offer white glove migrations free of charge (for most sites, subject to review). I’ll tell you the cost before anything starts if yours is unusually complex.

Yes. I rebuild it properly on WordPress rather than forcing the old structure across, so you don’t carry the same limits with you. I’ll quote it once I’ve seen what you have.

No. Most people who come to me aren’t sure of the detail, just that the current site isn’t doing its job. That’s what the first call is for.
